Who introduced you to lacrosse? I got introduced to lacrosse at football sign ups in 2nd grade. I got introduced to it by Steve Beebe who ended up being one of my lacrosse coaches all the way from youth through high school.
What does lacrosse mean to you? Lacrosse is my getaway from reality. It really allows me to live in the moment and forget about anything else that’s going on.
Advice for younger players that dream of playing professional lacrosse? Try to watch as much high-level lacrosse as you can.
Favorite lacrosse memory? Beating UNC in the first round of the NCAA tourney my senior year.
Where is your favorite place to play? Favorite place to play is back at Albany. Nothing like playing in front of some of the best fans in college lacrosse.
Gameday Superstitions? Listen to my music mostly EDM or rap to get me fired up and eat some sort of candy as well. Preferably some sort of fruity/chewy candy like starbursts or skittles.
How do you up your game year after year? I’d say I up my game year after year by reflecting on the previous season and taking note of the positives and negatives of my play. Then in the off-season leading up to the season, I would work and train on some negatives.
Who are your heroes? Who do you look up to? As a kid, I always looked up to LaDainian Tomlinson not just based on his athleticism but also the way he carried himself off the field too.
What haven’t you accomplished that you aspire to do? See the northern lights
How do you think lacrosse will change in the next 10 years? I think lacrosse will change in the next 10 years by being a much faster game. The shot clock is already helping. I also see it becoming more of a mainstream sport throughout the country even in non-hotbed areas

What is your favorite food? Favorite Restaurant? My favorite food would have to be barbecue. Couldn’t pick one restaurant but my family’s homemade ribs or pulled pork is my favorite.
Hobbies outside of lacrosse? Love to surf, fish, beach volleyball, Spikeball, and just about anything outside.
What sport would you play if you didn’t play lacrosse? If I didn’t play lacrosse I’d be playing football
Where do you see yourself in 20 years? In 20 years I see myself living by a body of water via lake or ocean with my family. Still being a part of lacrosse and growing the game by coaching my kids.
What do you think of when you hear the name, Powell? When I think of the name Powell I think of some of the best to ever play the game. I also think of a crafty and innovative style of lacrosse.
What does it mean to you to be a Powell Athlete? It means a lot knowing that I represent a brand that is founded and ran by some of the best to ever play the game. It also means being held to a high standard on the field and off the field with growing the game and the joy of lacrosse.

Where do you coach? I am an Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach & Assistant Men’s/Women’s Lacrosse Coach at Norwich University. I am also an Assistant Coach for Joe Nardella’s Face-Off Factory along with Noah Rak and Alex Woodall.
Who introduced you to lacrosse? My older brother Adam was the first to pick up a stick in my family. He played for Carthage coaching legends Kirk Ventiquattro and Jason Coffman before my younger brother Paul and I followed.
What does lacrosse mean to you? Lacrosse is a medium through which I try to be the best version of myself. It represents a fun and exciting way to learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, communication, perseverance, and leadership. While there is a lot more to life than sports, there are also so many lessons we can learn from sports that are applicable to life.
Advice for younger players that dream of playing professional lacrosse? Learn to fall in love with the process and don’t be too quick to give up when you encounter frustration, failure, or heartbreak. It can be tough at times but the tough moments are also the ones that help us grow the most.
Favorite lacrosse memory? My senior season at Norwich in 2015. That was hands-down some of the most fun I’ve ever had playing. The guys I graduated with and the coaches we played for are among the best people I know.
Where is your favorite place to play? “Around the fields of Carthage” (I think someone wrote a song about that)

How do you up your game year after year? Find some way to get better every day, physically or mentally.
Who are your heroes? Who do you look up to? My mom and dad are the most loving and hardworking people I know.
What haven’t you accomplished that you aspire to do? Nothing and everything.
How do you think lacrosse will change in the next 10 years? Knee-down moto grip will come back to college and people will hopefully listen to face-off guys next time they want to change rules.

What sport would you play if you didn’t play lacrosse? My girlfriend plays rugby, which looks incredibly fun and physical. Soccer is always phenomenal and I’ve also wanted to try out fencing.

What does it mean to you to be a Powell Athlete? Being a Powell Athlete means having the privilege of representing the best name and the best brand in our sport. The legacy and blue-collar mindset attached to the Powell brand is one that I am super proud to be a part of.

My favorite piece of gear has to be the gloves though. They don’t take long to break in and just feel like a part of your body once they do.

What does lacrosse mean to you? Lacrosse means a lot to me and being able to play the game I love has been one of the best parts of my life in recent years. The chance to be able to continue playing the game at a high level is something I am very grateful for as well.
Advice for younger players that dream of playing professional lacrosse? It will not come easy, but if you work as hard as you can it will be possible. Work on your skills and learn to be a good teammate, they will take you a long way.

How do you think lacrosse will change in the next 10 years? I think lacrosse will turn into an offensive scoring competition. Follow the rules changes in collegiate lacrosse, it is very apparent that the teams that are able to score the most are going to find the most success.

Favorite lacrosse memory? There are two that come into mind.1. 2018 CAA lacrosse championship. It was a culmination of all the work we put in as a family to make it to that point. 2. Many memories of playing catch with my brother Avery in our backyard.

How do you up your game year after year? I think knowing your game and training at a high level. I watch film on myself and I see how I can improve. One thing I focused on this past offseason is exiting after winning the clamp. I lost a couple of faceoffs each game because of this. I would focus on it when going live and on my own. Practicing full speed.
Who are your heroes? Who do you look up to? I look up to so many great Athletes. In every sport, there is a Kobe. A true competitor. Someone who is willing to do whatever it takes to be great. That’s what I look up to.
What haven’t you accomplished that you aspire to do? I am always striving to be the best I can be. I don’t think I have reached my full potential and I aspire to get there

What advice would you give to a young player that has a goal of playing professional lacrosse? Focus on the little things. They will add up in the long run. It’s not about what team you’re currently on, or what accolades you have. If you put your head down and work hard, good things will happen.

How do you up your game year after year? The process has changed over the years as my role within the team has evolved. I used to talk trash to the other team when I was younger. Now I mentally go through a checklist of opposing players/teams tendencies. I also try and have a conversation/check-in with every player on my team before the first whistle.
Who are your heroes? Who do you look up to? My Dad. He passed away this past December but coached me in football from the time I was 6, all the way through HS. He coached almost every sport that you can think of at Conestoga and impacted so many different people.

Who introduced you to lacrosse? Family friends growing up, I was 4.
What does lacrosse mean to you? Lacrosse means everything to me. It is how I get to push myself physically and mentally. It is also my escape from day-to-day issues or lingering feelings. Lacrosse is my favorite thing in this world.
Advice younger players that dream of playing professional lacrosse? The only thing I would say to a young player who wants to be a pro lacrosse player is to spend as much time with your stick as possible. Creativity and confidence on the field only comes from logging hours with that stick in your hand.
Favorite lacrosse memory? My favorite lacrosse memory is camping at all the tournaments we played at as a kid. Instead of staying in hotels, all the families would camp and we would have huge deep-fryers and cook up a few hundred wings and just run around. There are championships and great games but it was this time spent that I remember first.
Where is your favorite place to play? Favorite place to play is Mount Ridley (Ridley athletic complex), the home field of Loyola University Maryland.
Gameday superstitions? I don’t really have any! I read somewhere superstitions are a way to hide your ill-preparedness and put blame on something else other than your preparedness.
How do you up your game year after year? I have had a concentration on fitness since leaving college. I have back issues and I had to dial in my focus to be able to keep competing at this level. I also surround myself with people who aspire to do the same. They push me, I push them.
Who are your heroes? Who do you look up to? My heroes are my parents. They gave me the opportunity to fall in love with this game and gave me the confidence that I could do whatever I wanted to with it. I look up to Callum Crawford still even though our relationship has gone from mentor to friend, I still admire the way he goes about being a pro.
What haven’t you accomplished that you aspire to do? I aspire to win an NLL Championship. With it being such a deep league I strive to be a part of a group that will rise to the top.
How do you think lacrosse will change in the next 10 years? Lacrosse will change in the next 10 years by being recognized as a nationwide sport. I hope there are no states that don’t produce competitive athletes. If that happens, this game goes to the next level.
