School may have started, but there is still lots of lacrosse to watch. The battle for a spot in the MLL playoffs is still wide open and teams are starting to feel the pressure as no one has clinched one of the four spots yet. The PLL is in a bye week as teams prepare for the first round of the playoffs, but there is still a lot of lacrosse to watch this week. The Sr. A and Sr. B Canadian box lacrosse championships are in full swing and will be some of the most exciting lacrosse games of the year. We also found some lacrosse videos that are a must watch for players and fans. Here are the games and videos we will be watching this week.

Saturday 8/31

Boston Cannons (7-5) vs Denver Outlaws (7-5)
Watch on ESPN+ or at 5 pm ET

Boston and Denver have been shuffling spots in the rankings all season with their season series fittingly tied at 1 win a piece. This will be their last matchup of the regular season, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see these two teams meet again in the playoffs. In their last matchup, the Cannons’ defense held Zach Currier and John Grant Jr. to a combined 4 points while also chasing goalie Dillon Ward out of his net after the 1st Quarter to be replaced by Christian Knight. Will the Outlaws get their revenge?

New York Lizards (3-10) vs Dallas Rattlers (6-7)
Watch on LaxSportsNetwork at 8 pm ET

These two teams are on very different streaks. The Rattlers are on an incredible 6 game winning streak after starting the season 0-7. The Lizards are on a 5 game losing streak and haven’t won a game since July. Dallas is playing incredible lacrosse right now and is making a serious run at a playoffs spot. The Lizards will have their hands full, but they would definitely love to spoil the Rattlers’ party and get on a win streak of their own to end the season.

Ryan McNamara was unstoppable last weekend for the Rattlers.

Sr. A and Sr. B Box Lacrosse Championships

The Presidents Cup (Sr. B) is currently underway as well as the Ontario Sr. A (MSL) Championship. These are some of the most intense lacrosse games that will be played all year with players leaving it all out on the floor for a chance to be champions. Unfortunately all of the games have to purchased to watch, but I know I will at least be tuning in to the final games of each championship to see who will win the Presidents Cup and which Ontario Sr. A team will move on to compete against the Victoria Shamrocks for the Mann Cup.

Must Watch Lacrosse Videos

Major Series Lacrosse Finals Game 5 Highlights

The best lacrosse being played right now isn’t in the PLL or the MLL. The Major Series Lacrosse Finals between the Six Nations Chiefs and Peterborough Lakers have been some of the craziest games of the year and have flown under the radar. Players like Lyle Thompson, Dhane Smith, Zach Currier, Jeremy Thompson, Mark Matthews, and several other PLL and MLL players are also playing for a chance to play in the Mann Cup. From behind the back goals, a last second game winner, and a bench clearing fight, Game 5 had some of the most impressive plays I’ve seen all summer.

Zach Currier My Lacrosse Life

Like many pro lacrosse players, Zach Currier has a second job, but not all lacrosse players are as lucky as him to also work for a lacrosse company like Warrior. Take a behind the scenes look at how Currier helps develop the Warp sticks during the week and gets to teest them out during games on the weekend.

Support For Goalie Angus Goodleaf After Scary Incident

The Presidents Cup, the Canadian Sr. B box lacrosse national championship, is underway and during a game between the Kahnawake Mohawks and Capital Region Axemen, Mohawks’ goalie Angus Goodleaf collapsed on the floor after the 1st period. Goodleaf had to be resuscitated by medical staff and thankfully regained consciousness and is recovering in the hospital. This was a very scary incident and in the video below you can see both teams as well as the crowd coming together to support Goodleaf in a moment that goes beyond lacrosse. We hope Goodleaf has a speedy recovery and will be back playing soon.
