What We’re Watching: Must Watch Lacrosse Videos

We are in one of the only times of the year where there is a lull in lacrosse games. The PLL, MLL, and college are in their offseasons while the NLL is just getting geared up to start their season at the end of November. In the meantime, there are still lots of lacrosse videos and clips out there to fulfill lacrosse fans’ appetites. Here are some videos and highlights that are helping us get our lacrosse fix.

McDonogh Halloween Scrimmage

Halloween scrimmages are great tradition for teams to have fun while still getting a good run in. All of your teammates wearing a Dragon, Kool-Aid man, Lion, or other funny costume makes it a little distracting to play, but adds a degree of difficulty if your costume makes it hard to move or even see. Check out some great highlights from East Coast Dyes of McDonogh High School’s Halloween scrimmage.

Carolina Hurricanes Player’s Lacrosse Goal

Lacrosse was all over sports news last week thanks to Carolina Hurricanes player Andrei Svechnikov scoring the first ever lacrosse-style goal successfully done in the NHL. The goal was first pulled off by University of Michigan hockey player Mike Legg back in 1996. The goal is sometimes called “The Michigan,” but it has also become known as a lacrosse goal thanks to its resemblance to a lacrosse player scoring a wraparound goal. Hockey players have been scoring these kind of goals for years in other leagues and pick up games, but now it has finally been done in the NHL.

I agree with the Saskatchewan Rush that lacrosse players will always do a better job of scoring this kind of goal.

Princeton vs Colgate Fall Ball Highlights

Fall Ball is officially over for college teams, but that won’t stop us from enjoying some great highlights from the scrimmages a few weeks ago. Princeton and Colgate met on a rainy day where both squads battled through the elements to still make some incredible plays. There are few things as satisfying as a shot stinging a corner and the water flying off the net.

Pat Spencer Dominates On The Basketball Court

In another crossover between sports, 2019 Tewaaraton Winner Pat Spencer is using a fifth year of eligibility to play college basketball at Northwestern and he is already showing that he is just as much of threat on the hardwood as he is on the turf. In Northwestern’s exhibition game against Quincy, Spencer was scoring at will and even dunking showing how athletic he really is. All lacrosse fans will turn into Northwestern fans as we will be cheering for Spencer as the college basketball season starts up.

NLL Fights From The 2019 Season

The 2020 NLL season is almost here and what better way to get the blood pumping than to watch some fights from last season. Similar to the NHL, fights are becoming less and less common in the NLL as the league cracks down on them and players are becoming less likely to drop the gloves when their number is called. However, there are still a good chunk of players who aren’t afraid to scrap to stick up for their teammates.

Mikey Powell Dominates the 2002 National Championship

Here is a little throwback of Powell Lacrosse’s own Mikey Powell circa 2002 when he helped Syracuse capture the 2002 National Championship with a 4 goal and 3 assist performance. Adam Ghitelman dug up this old footage so younger fans could see for themselves how one of the greatest attackmen of all time dominated the game. Mikey’s creative and free flowing playing style is timeless.

Hopefully these videos will keep lacrosse fans occupied while we wait it out in the offseason.

Let us know if there any other lacrosse videos we need to watch in the comments.
